Hospital security-access control and patient-comfort solutions
Category: Case Study
Part of the GVM Care & Research group, San Pier Damiano Hospital in Faenza is one of Emilia-Romagna’s centres of excellence in healthcare with a reputation for top-quality care and a focus on patient and staff needs.
Its management chose CISA – a sector leader in hospital security solutions as its partner in the implementation of a customised access-control system capable of preventing unauthorised access and ensuring rapid exit in emergencies. CISA also took responsibility for staff training, transferring autonomous access-management and everyday maintenance skills to the workforce.
The hospital’s managers decided that CISA access-control systems responded to the need to ensure that security is tangible and present in all spaces, making both staff and patients feel protected and giving them peace of mind at all times.
In-depth technical surveys on access flow, space distribution and diverse operational ward requirements enabled CISA to obtain the data it needed to create a personalised protection, accessibility and access-management plan which does not get in the way of staff work and patient comfort.
Individual staff members are given electronic cards to get into and out of the facility. Access rights and audit trails are then transmitted from wall card-readers to the central system. The system allows for remote management of access credentials and can update and deactivate cards in real time, including in the event of card loss, preventing unauthorised access.
The San Pier Damiano Hospital access-control system is based on CISA eSIGNO contactless locks whose many advantages include rapid, wiring-free installation which can be retrofitted and mechanical master key system cylinders which enable access to the various areas to be managed on the basis of staff roles and responsibilities, improving operational efficiency and security.
