Maintenance guide

Cylinder maintenance tips

Appropriate periodic maintenance of CISA cylinders is essential to preserving their performance and security levels over time. Simple, frequent maintenance helps prevent cylinders jamming and malfunctioning, ensures smooth operation and helps prolong cylinder life, maintaining their security features.

Cleaning

Remove dust, residue and grease from the exterior and keyhole with a damp cloth before lubricating with products suitable for locks.

Cylinder lubrication

Lubricate the cylinder at least once a year using non-greasy, silicone-based lubricants to ensure smooth key mechanisms.

Removing dirt from the key

Any grease, dust or cleaning residues must be wiped off keys with a damp cloth to prevent corrosion damage.

Aligning components

If turning the key is difficult, make sure that the lock and its locking elements (latchbolt and/or deadbolt), door and frame are aligned.

Precautions and instructions

  • For cylinders without clutch systems: do not leave keys inserted from the inside as this prevents keys being used from the outside.
  • Never use the key to pull or push the door.
  • Use original CISA keys only.
  • Use clean, undamaged keys only.

Correct cylinder and lock installation: the security bottom-line

Correct installation is essential to guaranteeing the performance and security of CISA cylinders and locks. Following the right instructions enables you to avoid common mistakes, ensure smooth operation and maximise the product’s security features.
