CISA recognised as a Historic Brand of National Interest

Category: News

CISA has been officially entered into the Register of Historic Brands of National Interest, a recognition established by the Ministero delle Imprese e del Made in Italy to protect and promote Italian companies of outstanding historical and industrial value whose trademarks have been registered for at least fifty years.

The recognition comes during CISA’s centenary year. From Luigi Bucci’s original intuition in 1926 — which led to the patenting of the first electrically controlled lock — CISA has spanned a century of Italian industrial history, from post-war reconstruction to international expansion throughout the 1960s and 1970s, and from the 1980s onward, to the development of solutions integrating mechanics and electronics. That evolution continues today in access management systems designed to address increasingly complex security environments.

Accompanying this journey is the CISA trademark, derived from the acronym Costruzioni Italiane Serrature e Affini and, over time, established as a recognisable and inseparable part of the company’s identity. Used continuously for more than half a century, it represents a heritage of expertise, innovation and reliability that has now been recognised through its inclusion in the Register of Historic Brands of National Interest. To mark the company’s centenary, a commemorative version of the logo was also created and featured on the stamp issued by the Italian State in honour of CISA as an excellence of Made in Italy.

This recognition comes at a particularly meaningful moment in our history. It reflects a journey shaped over time through innovation, expertise and a strong international presence. With the same forward-looking spirit that has guided CISA for the past one hundred years, we see this recognition not as a milestone, but as further motivation to keep evolving and addressing the future challenges of security with vision and responsibility.
