Pere Virgili Major Outpatient Surgery and Rehabilitation Centre is home to Vall d’Hebron’s Day Surgery Unit (UCSI) and offers an alternative to the usual hospital admissions process. The 2,330 m2 Unit boasts the latest technology, and facilities specially designed for ambulatory surgery. The centre has 6 operating rooms, 3 surgeon's offices and 4 outpatient rooms for nursing, anaesthesia and surgical specialisations. The unit currently performs over 13,700 procedures a year.
Pere Virgili Sanitary Park specializes in day surgery as an alternative to traditional hospital admissions, which is far more convenient for patients. The facilities, technology and running of the whole centre are focused on maximizing this kind of outpatient surgery.
Patients who undergo surgery at Pere Virgili Sanitary Park can return home to continue their recovery a few hours after treatment, although always under supervision. The service is centered on convenience for patients, so they can recover in their normal home environment. The objective of the healthcare facility is to convey an image of "non-hospital" through its finishes and internal distribution so that patients can feel at home.

The atmosphere inside the hospital is designed to instill a sense of peace and tranquility. The predominant colors of the walls, doors and accessories are white and grey combined with stainless steel. The main entrances have a warm, open and welcoming effect on visitors thanks to the use of wood and glass elements.

Even more so, in order to disappear from sight, they project as little as possible from the surfaces where they are installed, to facilitate the passing through of stretchers, wheelchairs, food trolleys and people in general.
The solution adopted by Pere Virgili Hospital consists of an integrated system for door safety and security. The door locks provide high resistance to fire while the panic exit devices combine fast and easy opening of the doors even by elderly people and children and maximum security in closing. The panic exit devices are also protected by a special antibacterial finish that prevents the spread of microorganisms and the growth of bacteria and dangerous fungi.
Door stops and closers are designed for maximum versatility and safety, enabling to control door opening, to hold doors open in certain positions and to open both inwards and outwards, in complete harmony with the aesthetics of the layout, thanks to the clean design and elegant finishes.
