How to choose the right cylinder

What are the parameters to keep in mind when choosing a cylinder? To help you choose the cylinder that best suits the needs of your customers, we have drawn up a simple and intuitive guide that compares the security features of the various models made by CISA.

Before browsing through the list of cylinders and their characteristics, following is an overview of the terminology commonly used to identify different cylinder features and systems, in particular those made by CISA:

Bumping

The patented device that increases cylinder resistance to bumping (forced entry using percussion), is the the BKP “Bump Key Power” device in certain cylinders, whereas for the RS5 and RX cylinders it is the special driver assembly.

Snapping

For RS5 and RX cylinders, resistance to tearing is achieved by installing the rotor group from the inside. For other cylinders, it is obtained using the Snap Resistant System, a steel core that runs through the cylinder, whereas for Astral Tekno Pro, it is attained with a cut for controlled snapping.

Cylinder clutch system

Its main feature is that the door can be opened from the outside even if the key is in the door inside.

Protected key duplication

Digital duplication is possible using the SECURiCARD for RS5 (only by CISA) and RX (only at Red eXpert Centers) cylinders. For other cylinders, it is possible upon presentation of the Security Card at CISA authorised centres.
