INSTALLATON AND MAINTENANCE OF CISA CYLINDERS

A CISA cylinder can also be installed independently if due diligence and the appropriate tools are used. Follow the instructions indicated below.

To gauge the cylinder size you can use a simple ruler or you can print out the CISA template you can find here.

Measure dimensions A and B as shown in the diagram below, taking into account the thickness of the door and the thickness of the plates/roses for cylinders with an adjustable shaft or thumb turn; take care that dimension B corresponds to the shaft or thumb turn side..

In particular applications where security is important, the cylinder should not protrude more than 3 mm from the door profile so as to provide less leverage for break-in tools and greater resistance to “pulling”..

Removal of current installed cylinder

Remove the cylinder fixing screw (1). Turn the key approximately 30° clockwise or anti-clockwise to align the "cam" with the profile of the cylinder; this should not be carried out if the cylinder installed is a basic model which does not envisage a protruding cam (2) as standard.
Keeping the key turned, pull out the cylinder (3).
To facilitate cylinder removal, it may be necessary to remove the handle plate or rose if present.

Insertion of the new cylinder

To insert the new cylinder through the door, turn the key approximately 30° clockwise or anti-clockwise to align the "cam" with the profile of the cylinder (4); this should not be carried out for the installation of the CISA Locking Line range as it does not envisage a protruding cam. Insert the cylinder through the door (5), find the correct position and secure the cylinder with the supplied screw (6).

Take care that the fixing screw is screwed correctly to the cylinder and is of the correct length; in the event of replacement refer to the length of the old screw.

Checking the correct installation and functioning

Do not over-tighten the fixing screw as this could lead to malfunctions or jamming of the lock

To check the correct installation of the cylinder and the correct functioning of the lock, proceed as follows:

with the door open, turn the key clockwise and anticlockwise, making at least one complete 360° turn. The key must turn freely without jamming or friction, activating the latchbolt and deadbolt of the lock.

MAINTENANCE ADVICE

Lubrication

Lubricate the cylinder at least once a year using silicone lubricants (such as Loctite No. 116, Tunpro 40, WD-40)

Aligning the components

Make sure the lock and its locking elements (latchbolt and/or deadbolt(s)), door and frame are perfectly matched and aligned to optimise cylinder functioning.
